Always remember, GoGet pays for fuel. However, we rely on you, the GoGet community, to refuel vehicles when necessary so the next member to use the vehicle doesn’t get stuck with an empty fuel tank.

As a general rule, GoGet vehicles should always have at least 1/4 tank of fuel in them to avoid inconvenience to the next member.

Fines from $25 may apply if you leave the vehicle with less than a 1/4 tank of fuel at the end of your booking. Please allow time to fill up during your booking, if required, to avoid receiving a fine.

If at any point during your booking, the tank falls below 1/4, it is your responsibility to fill the fuel tank back to full using the supplied fuel card located in the vehicle.

Before you get going

What to do if your vehicle has less than 1/4 tank at the start of your booking

If at the start of your booking there is less than 1/4 tank of fuel, please take a photo of the fuel gauge before driving off.

Within the first 10km, please refuel the vehicle completely using the vehicle fuel card as per the instructions below under the ‘how to refuel’ section. Then login to your GoGet account online and submit a less than 1/4 tank claim. Just go to 'my account' then click on 'fuel reimbursement' and complete the form. Alternatively, you can go directly to the page by clicking here.

When you complete all required steps above and we are able to confirm the car was left with less than 1/4 tank of fuel, the previous member will be fined $25 and it will be added as a credit on your account for the inconvenience caused.

During your booking

When should I refuel?

If you need to refuel during your trip, please use the instructions below and make sure you stay within your booking time.

If you don’t think you have time before your booking ends to refuel, extend your booking in the GoGet app. For more information on how to extend your booking, check out this article on extending a booking.

If you cannot extend your booking, contact us immediately on 1300 769 389 otherwise fines may apply for not filling up the vehicle or returning the vehicle late.

How to refuel

Remember, GoGet always pays for fuel during your booking. A fuel card is provided in the vehicle to pay for fuel.

It is extremely important to check the correct fuel type for your specific GoGet vehicle before filling up otherwise the fuel card will not work.

Fill the fuel tank to full, then use the fuel card and fuel PIN to pay.

The sections below provide detailed information on how to use the fuel card and fuel PIN as well as what fuel to use and what to do if the fuel card won’t work.

Which petrol station should I use?

The fuel card provided will work at almost every petrol station. What to do if the fuel card doesn’t work

With the rising cost of fuel, we do very much appreciate it if you choose a petrol station in the area with competitive fuel prices, as this does make a huge difference for us and adds up across thousands of vehicles.

However we don’t want you going way out of your way and wasting your booking time scouting out low fuel prices.

What fuel should I use?

If you try to fill up with the wrong fuel type, the fuel card won’t work. Therefore it is very important to make sure you use the correct fuel for the vehicle. The correct fuel for the vehicle is listed in the GoGet app under your current booking or else in your booking confirmation email.

For most standard cars, E10 or Unleaded 91 are the appropriate fuels. For our fleet of BMWs and Mercedes, they may require Premium 95 or 98.

However, it is always best to make sure you check the correct fuel for your specific vehicle in the GoGet app or in your booking confirmation email.

How to use the fuel card

Our fuel card is called WEX Motorpass and is accepted at most petrol stations. It’s a single card that can be used across lots of different petrol retailers.

It is important to remember that the fuel card in each car will only work for the specific fuel type that the vehicle takes. Make sure you check what type of fuel the vehicle takes either in the app under your current booking or else in your booking confirmation email. The fuel card will not work with any other type of fuel or any other in-store purchases.

Where is the fuel card PIN located?

You can find both the fuel card PIN and your vehicle’s fuel type in the GoGet app under your current booking, in your booking confirmation email or on the fuel card sleeve.

Can I buy additional fuel or items from the service station?

If you try to buy anything other than fuel, the fuel card won’t work. Only the fuel for the vehicle can be charged to the fuel card.

What to do if the fuel card doesn’t work or is missing

Has the correct fuel type been used?

If the fuel card doesn’t work, it could be because the wrong fuel has been used in the vehicle. The fuel card will only work with the fuel types specified in the GoGet app under your current booking or listed in the confirmation email. If this is the case, please refer to the requesting a fuel reimbursement section below for further steps.

Is the fuel card PIN number correct?

The fuel card PIN is also specific to the individual fuel card. So make sure you are using the correct PIN number. The fuel card PIN can be found in the GoGet app under your current booking or else listed in the confirmation email for your current booking.

If you are using the correct fuel and PIN and the fuel card is still not working or else you cannot locate the fuel card in the vehicle, please pay for the fuel and request a reimbursement through the GoGet app or using the fuel reimbursement form once your booking has ended.

For more information, refer to the section below on requesting a fuel reimbursement.

Requesting a fuel reimbursement

GoGet always pays for fuel during your booking. So if the fuel card in the vehicle doesn’t work or is missing and you need to pay for fuel yourself, you can request a fuel reimbursement through the GoGet app or using this fuel reimbursement form.

Please make sure you get an itemised tax invoice for the fuel you purchase during your booking, take a clear, legible photo of the fuel receipt and upload it through the GoGet app or using this fuel reimbursement form.

For more information on fuel reimbursements, please read the information on the fuel reimbursement form and visit this article on how to be reimbursed for fuel if you paid for it yourself.

I don’t have time left on my booking to refuel

If you don’t think you have time to refuel before your booking ends, extend your booking in the GoGet app. For more information on how to extend your booking, check out this article on extending a booking.

If you cannot extend your booking, please contact us immediately on 1300 769 389 otherwise fines may apply for not filling up the vehicle or returning the vehicle late.

GoGet is all about sharing cars, and we don’t want to impact the next member who has booked the vehicle.
