Updated today

Tap your GoGet Smartcard to lock and unlock your car. Here’s how it all works.

Your Smartcard is your key to thousands of GoGet cars. Tap it on the reader in the windscreen to unlock, tap again to lock, and the car keys are waiting inside. No apps to open at the kerb, just tap and go.

How it works on a booking

  1. Book your car in the GoGet app or online.
  2. Bring your activated Smartcard. You can tap on from 5 minutes before your booking starts, at no extra charge.
  3. Hold your card on the reader in the windscreen to unlock.
  4. The keys are inside, on a retractable cord below the steering wheel. Pop them back when you’re done.
  5. Tap your card on the reader whenever you lock up during your trip.
  6. Need more time? Tap Extend in the app before your booking ends.
  7. Return the car to its home pod, put the keys back on the cord, and tap your card to lock and finish.

Good to know

  • Keep your card handy. No card, no access, so it’s worth keeping it somewhere you won’t forget it.
  • Each driver needs their own card. Everyone sharing the driving needs to be on the account with their own activated Smartcard. One card can’t cover two drivers.
  • Picking up right after someone. You can tap on from your start time, as soon as the booking before yours has ended.
  • No card yet, or lost it? Find out here how to get a new one.
