Phone Unlock FAQs: Extra drivers

Sharing a GoGet with someone on your account? Here’s how Phone Unlock works for every driver.

Updated today

Can multiple extra drivers use the same car?

Yes, as long as you're all on the same account.

Every driver can tap Activate Phone Unlock on their own phone, then lock and unlock any car booked by a driver on the account.

Can my extra driver lock and unlock the car too?

Yes, as long as you're both on the same account.

The booking shows in the app for every driver on the account. Each driver taps Activate Phone Unlock on their own phone, and then they can lock and unlock the car.

A GoGet member on a different account can still share the driving, but they won't see Lock and Unlock in their app.

Can one driver unlock and another driver lock?

Yes, if you're both on the same account.

Driving together? One of you can unlock the car and the other can lock it. With a Smartcard, the same card had to do both.

Does End Booking end the booking for every driver?

No. It only ends it for the driver who taps it.

Other drivers on the account aren't affected.

What happens if one driver extends or changes the booking?

Every driver taps Activate Phone Unlock again.

When any driver on the account extends or changes a booking, each driver needs to tap Activate Phone Unlock again before they can lock and unlock. Lost signal? You can keep using the car, then tap Activate Phone Unlock again once you're back in reception.

What happens if one driver cancels the booking?

It's cancelled for every driver on the account.

Can an extra driver extend, change or cancel a booking?

Yes. Any driver on the account can, whoever the booking is for.

The account holder can switch off Extra drivers can make bookings for other people in the account settings. When it's off, extra drivers can't make a booking for another driver. Everything else stays shared: every driver can still view, lock and unlock, change, cancel and extend bookings on the account.
