How do I know if a car uses Phone Unlock or a Smartcard?
How to tell if I can unlock and lock my GoGet using the app
Every car in your search results shows a badge under its name. Phone unlock means you unlock the car with the GoGet app. Card unlock means you need your Smartcard. Check the badge before you book, because you can't swap between the two once you're at the car.

The badge sits directly under the car's name. Phone Unlock cars have an orange Phone unlock badge; Smartcard cars have a grey Card unlock badge.
What each badge means for your trip
Phone unlock | Card unlock | |
Badge | Orange outline with a phone icon | Grey outline with a card icon |
What you need | The GoGet app on your phone, signed in, with Bluetooth on | Your GoGet Smartcard |
Getting into the car | Tap Activate Phone Unlock from 10 minutes before your booking starts, then tap Unlock | Hold your Smartcard to the reader on the windscreen |
Extra drivers | Each driver activates Phone Unlock on their own phone | Each driver uses their own Smartcard |
Can I use the other method? | No. A Smartcard won't open a Phone Unlock car | No. The app won't unlock a Smartcard car |
