Return the vehicle to it’s pod
Every GoGet vehicle has a pod or a ‘home’ that it must be returned to prior to the end of your booking. Failure to do so could result in a fine being applied to your account to offset the inconvenience caused to the next member.
You can find information about the vehicle’s pod and instructions on how to return the vehicle in your current booking in the GoGet app as well as in your booking confirmation email.
Lock with smartcard before end of booking
When you return the vehicle to its pod, the act of tapping off using your smartcard is what lets us know that you’re finished using the vehicle.
It is very important that you remember to tap off at the end of your booking, before the end of your allocated booking time. This lets us know that you’ve finished using the vehicle and also locks the doors.
If you don’t tap off before the end of your booking time, the system will think you’re late and you may incur a system-generated late return fine.
Read more about the importance of tapping on and off.
Extend if you think you’ll be late
If you think you’re going to be running late or haven’t allowed enough time to get back to the pod, extend your booking using the GoGet app. What to do if you can’t extend your booking.
Keep in mind that the system will automatically generate a late return fine if you return your vehicle late or forget to tap off to finish your booking within your booking time.
For more information about extending your booking, read this article on how to extend a booking or give us a call on 1300 769 389 and we can extend it for you.
Different types of pods
There are three different types of pods that a GoGet vehicle may live in. How you return the vehicle to the pod and the parking instructions may be very different depending on what type of pod it lives in. For information about your vehicle’s specific pod, refer to your current booking in the GoGet app or alternatively your booking confirmation email.
Types of GoGet pods:
Council Dedicated Pod
This is a permanently allocated parking location that has been given to us by the local council. There will always be some type of street signage at the pod, the signs are different for each council, common examples would include ‘goget’, ‘gg’ or ‘carshare vehicles only’. Some dedicated pods will have line markings on the road as well. Always check the pod details in the GoGet app or alternatively your booking confirmation email for parking instructions.
Floating Pod
This type of Pod is not a specific single parking bay. It is a small area of available/unrestricted parking. Check the pod details in the GoGet app or alternatively your booking confirmation email to understand where you can collect and return the vehicle.
Carpark/Development Pod
This type of Pod is located within an above or underground car park. They can be found in shopping centres, apartment buildings or business car parks. Check the pod details in the GoGet app or alternatively your booking confirmation email for the exact parking bay number or area of the car park.
What to do if the pod is occupied upon return
It can be incredibly frustrating to return to your vehicle’s pod only to find that someone else has parked in your spot. Take a breath, put aside those feelings of frustration and find another place to park. Make sure to check the pod description in the app or in your booking confirmation email, to ensure you park in a space that will not incur a parking fine. Then make sure to give us a call on 1300 769 389 to let us know the location of the vehicle so we can let the next member know.
More information on where you can park
All the information you need regarding where you can and can’t park the vehicle is available in your current booking within the GoGet app as well as in your booking confirmation email.
Make sure you refer to either of these before parking the vehicle to make sure you’re not accidentally parking in a restricted or no parking zone, which may result in a council fine being issued to you.
Important points to remember when parking outside a designated pod
Any fines incurred from illegal parking during your booking will be passed onto you, regardless of whether the pod was occupied.
Reading and following the instructions under ‘Pod Info’ in your current booking within the GoGet app or your booking confirmation email, and paying attention to parking signs, will help to prevent unnecessary fines.
Please also make sure the car is parked within 500 metres of its pod. If it is parked more than 500 metres away, you may be charged a fee as we will need to move the vehicle back to its pod so as to not inconvenience the next member.
If you don’t get in contact with us to let us know where the car is parked, the next member may be inconvenienced, and you may also receive a fine.
