Accessing your GoGet vehicle

Unlocking and locking the vehicle

Your smartcard is used to unlock and lock GoGet vehicles, this is called tapping on and off.

When you arrive at your GoGet vehicle for your booking, you will notice a small box on the driver’s side under the windscreen with a green light. Slowly tap your smartcard over this box. Sometimes you might not hear an audible sound, however you’ll know you’ve successfully tapped on if the doors unlock. What to do if the smartcard isn’t unlocking the vehicle.

The same process is used for locking the vehicle at the end of your booking. Make sure you have successfully tapped off at the end of your booking by checking that the doors are locked.

You will also use this process of tapping on and off each time you wish to lock and unlock the vehicle throughout your trip. Make sure your smartcard always stays on you so you are able to lock and unlock your vehicle during your trip. We suggest hanging it on your keys or else keeping it in your wallet so it doesn’t get lost.

Starting the vehicle

The vehicle’s key is located inside, attached to the ignition. The key is used to start the vehicle like you would a normal car. Please refer to your booking confirmation email for further details on how to start your vehicle if it has push button start.

Your smartcard always stays with you and the keys always stay in the vehicle.

How to avoid additional charges or fines

Using your smartcard to tap on before your booking time or tap off after your booking time or driving a GoGet vehicle without a booking, can result in a system-generated fine being issued to you.

Ensure you use your smartcard to tap on and off only with a valid booking and during your booking time.

What to do if you think you’ll be late returning your vehicle

Returning a GoGet vehicle late will incur a $25 fine plus any additional time taken.

It's important to return your booked vehicle on time, as returning it late could impact the next member who booked the vehicle after you.

If you think you’re going to be late returning your vehicle, extend your booking in the app (it’s way cheaper than receiving a fine for returning it late). What to do if you can’t extend your booking.

Grace period

The system allows up to 5 minutes before your booking starts, and 5 minutes after your booking ends, without incurring fines or extra time booked. However, even if a car is 5 minutes late, it can inconvenience other members, so please try to avoid relying on this.

What to do if you left something in a GoGet vehicle

Accessing a GoGet vehicle outside your booking time can result in a system-generated fine being issued to you.

If you’re still at the vehicle, check if it will still let you in by tapping on. If so, you can open it and retrieve your belongings and then tap off to lock the vehicle again. As long as you don’t drive the vehicle and remember to successfully tap off, you won’t receive a fine.
